So would you say people are getting a bit.... trigger happy?

(I'll see myself out)

I really am sitting here sorting through ammunition and spent cartridges today, so if anyone would like some...

You can specify whether you want those fired from the Walther KKM or the BSA12/15.

KateSMumsnet · 09/07/2014 12:48

Now you've all stitched up your sides after my hilarious joke, we should say the we do understand that triggers are important to people, and generally we like to make Mumsnet as nice a place as possible for folks to post in Smile

GretchenWiener · 09/07/2014 13:48

yes but EVERYTHING is a trigger in some way.

trufflesnout · 09/07/2014 17:43

Surely posting TRIGGER is pre-emptively setting off triggers though? Like when someone says "don't look" and you look and it's a squished hedgehog. They should say "don't look it's a squished hedgehog" and my brain wouldn't go "WE MUST LOOOOOOOOKK".

or something

trufflesnout · 09/07/2014 17:44

(I really want to start a blank post with the title TRIGGER but I can only imagine how fast my guts would be pulled out)

GretchenWiener · 09/07/2014 19:43

i did. and put this pic in

when did all these ***TRIGGERS* start getting pulled?

Haha so you did! Excellent choice

OrangeVanofPositivity · 11/07/2014 15:56

I had to remove a disembowelled hedgehog from the lawn yesterday. There were intestines where intestines are not supposed to be.

LeBearPolar · 11/07/2014 16:01

Can we all post a list of our potential triggers and then MNHQ can edit thread titles accordingly? It seems the only fair way to make MN a nice place for people to post in.

I'll start:
Bad spelling, punctuation and grammar.
Any thread with the words hun, hubby, hunni, lil man or the like in, unless followed by a disclaimer.
Any thread on TOWIE or similar reality TV shows.

I'm sure I'll think of more.

ThomasLynn · 11/07/2014 16:13

I am triggered by the word "nostril."

I request any thread with this nasty word to be appropriately edited, and equipped with a TRIGGER warning.

Ta lots.

GretchenWiener · 11/07/2014 16:19

my trigger basically is any thread about facebook, or xmas traditions
I need a warning there or i might implode

I have nothing to add but I am launching a one-woman campaign to get Mumsnet a 'head tit' emoticon.

BillnTedsMostFeministAdventure · 11/07/2014 22:21

TRIGGER is typically for a post about sexual abuse if some kind. I haven't seen it being used on anything else.

BillnTedsMostFeministAdventure · 11/07/2014 22:22

I like head tit though.

Here's "tit-on-head"

StairsInTheNight · 11/07/2014 22:24

I think there could be a list e.g. Trigger no1 for spiders etc. Or no8 would mean buttons or clowns. I think that would-be helpful.

BitchyVstheUFOs · 11/07/2014 22:40

But spiders have always been referred to around here as loofers. when did that stop? Confused

GretchenWiener · 12/07/2014 06:53

Oh it's used for everything.

OP posts:
trufflesnout · 12/07/2014 14:08

The disgusting threads recently which have contained pictures of peoples poo have contained barely any TRIGGER or WARNING Sad

StairsInTheNight · 12/07/2014 22:14

Poo could be trigger no2

MegMogandOwlToo · 12/07/2014 22:17

You know, just seeing the bloody word "trigger" in the title reminds me of being abused as a child.

Not like a flashback, but just a reminder.

The word trigger is enough to be a trigger.

MegMogandOwlToo · 12/07/2014 22:18

Oh and now the word trigger itself has lost all meaning!

QueenOfThorns · 12/07/2014 22:23

A head tit?
