Mumsnet Moonwatch

Hello, I have two questions about this:

  1. today is supposedly a full moon so why does 'mumsnet moonwatch' show as just a bit gibbous?

  2. would you consider sharing some stats on MN posting rates, reports and deletions according to moon phases? I realise it would be a bit of work but it would be interesting to see if it has any effect.

I don't think the mumsnet moon has changed for a while.

Tweasels · 13/06/2014 20:09

Maybe they never show the full moon in case it causes some kind of Pavlovian response?

Although judging by some threads I've read today I'd say the lunar lunacy has begun.

Grin I can kind of believe that, quite sensible really.

it did used to work, I'm sure. I've meant to post about the brokenness for ages. Bloody ages now I think about it.

But yeah, stats would be grand too.

Hi Pube,

Did the moon shape used to change ? If you click on the moon it still gives up to date information about the phase of the moon.

It would be a heckuvalotofwork interesting to see whether stats and moon phases correlate, we'll see if we can draw something up.

"today (8pm 13th June) is supposedly a full moon so why does 'mumsnet moonwatch' show as just a bit gibbous?"

FYI Full moon was at just after 5am on 13th June 2014. Therefore was infact most full during the evening 12th-13th June not 13th-14th June. Therefore it is correct that it would be slightly gibbous when you posted.

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 15/06/2014 17:22

Yes it used to change, I'm sure!

Waffle, when I say slightly gibbous I mean slightly over a half moon - it will be correct on about 18th June.

Thanks Amy, stats would be great Smile

Yup, I certainly used to change back in the day.

BertieBotts · 15/06/2014 19:31

Oh it definitely used to change! I hadn't noticed it had stopped. That's quite sad! :(

KateSMumsnet · 16/06/2014 14:12

We shall try and fix the moon (God complex, moi?)

BertieBotts · 16/06/2014 15:38

Yes yes! :)

KateSMumsnet · 16/06/2014 16:47

Hang on, are we definitely sure it's broken?

According to WaffleWiffle it was right?

Ooh ooh ooh the funky gibbous....

BertieBotts · 16/06/2014 16:56

I guess we'll have to wait until the full/new moon to see whether it's right?

ouryve · 16/06/2014 16:59

It definitely hasn't changed at all since this thread started. It'll be right once every 28 days.

MrsLettuce · 16/06/2014 17:08

Nah, it's not changed in an age. Could easily be more than a year. In fact, it might have been round the time floaty bar thingy was introduced.

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 16/06/2014 18:37

Thank you!

No, it's not right. It will be (briefly) in a couple of days.

OP posts:
MrsLettuce · 26/06/2014 21:06

Please?

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 26/06/2014 21:43

Yes, it should show as the very last sliver of old moon today.
