Why does npower survey need you to have a partner?

I am a single parent have all the appliances that npower are looking for yet because I have not got a partner I can not take part. Why.

Hi, so sorry if this has caused any offence!

Just to clear things up, npower would like to say, "A key part of the study involved investigating the differences between how different household members consume energy and use home gadgets. So on this occasion, since the comparison element is so key to the study it would mean that an individual wouldn't be able to meet the criteria."
