Is there any particular reason for the 19 threads about passports...

Because lots of people ignored the warning from the passport office about not booking trip until you have your passport sorted and they are now in such a flap they aren't checking to see if there is already a thread they could use.

Yes, OldBoots is correct. Mass (understandable) panic. Good vibes to everyone waiting for news. My weekend on the drizzly British coast is suddenly looking more appealing.
