This is a small, first world problem, but this board is hard work. Genuine posters with a genuine problem are told (this week's cracker) not to bother unless your four year old has already written a symphony.
It takes nerves of steel and a flameproof suit to post on it, which is a shame when people have very real problems with schools and at home. And most of all because 'my child is absurdly ahead and is acting up at school' isn't ever something you are going to be able to discuss at the school gate, so MN ought to be a lifeline.
Two questions, pliz. One, might it be a good idea to keep the board off active conversations, as has happened with some others, to at least keep the casual snarkery at bay?
Second, please can I or someone else write you a guest blog post which is a plea for just a little more tolerance. It would be about why having a gifted child is actually not fun, and not showing off, and no we are not hothousing and yes we do let her be a child (all regular accusations on the threads). For some people it ends up being a form of special needs as their children just don't fit in mainstream education.
