posting under a different nickname on different threads?

when on MN on my phone today I noticed that I could tick a box under a reply to post it under a different nickname. I cant see this option on my laptop - is there a way to do this? Wuld be handy as I have a thread at the moment under different nickname to usual for various reasons, but cant be bothered to keep loggng into acocunt and changing it back for other threads!

I think it only works like that in the mobile version. Not sure whether you can use the mobile version on a desktop or not.

Sorry, but I think that MNHQ should remove that option altogether.

Sorry, I should clarify, I don't mean that we shouldn't be allowed to namechange at all - loads of us NC.

I meant that the option to namechange so easily whilst you're on a thread should be removed.

Yes, this was introduced because namechanging on mobile is such an utter faff at the moment, and we do like to proceed on the basis that most MNers are benign types who don't NC to mislead - they might just want to share something particularly personal without it being associated with their 'known' nickname.

Sock-puppeting/NCing to mislead is very, very easy for us at MNHQ to spot, so if you suspect someone is doing it please report the thread.

Namechanging is a bit of a faff on the normal site too, would really come in handy on here (for eg, when i want to go back to a personal nc thread, but will leave it a while rather than nc back and forth)

Please don't take my sunshine tick box away...
