... where if you were an occasional MNer you could (eg) search by others' nicknames (alone) to spot discussions you'd missed but would find interesting? Or was searching that way deemed too riskily potentially stalker-y and therefore taken away? Pity, if so

I am looking for "search current messages" - trying to stalk 2 other Mnetters.....

If you click on search all messages, you can enter just the nickname you're looking for plus a range of dates and it will bring up all the messages that have been left by that person

Yes, I miss it too.
I find "search all messages" rather cumbersome, and somewhat unstable and unpredictable ... i.e. it often doesn't work properly.

Yes, please bring back the old way of searching as it was a good way of keeping up with online "friends" without trawling through everything by everyone...

'Find new messages' has always been there.

'Search all messages' works fine for everything.

With all of the MN site changes going on, I seem to have lost the ability to "search by poster", as my bookmarked link no longer works. Anyone know a solution? Thanks.

Hi, the easiest thing to do is use search all messages instead and put something in the nickname box and "from" dates only, then click "search". That does exactly the same thing..... (or it should). Let us know if this isn't what you need.
