Why are you advertising Queen Ethelburga's

With a dubious claim to be the "Best Private School" and having threatened a number of MNetters with legal action?

Why are you advertising Queen Ethelburga's

SueDNim. This is an Ad Choice ad (you can tell by the little blue arrow on the top right hand corner). Ad Choice ads pop up because of something you might have been looking at on the internet, or on MN itself.

But MNHQ is always happy to be alerted to these odd Ad Choice ads - and they can chase them down and block them from the site.

Don't blame MN Grin

Hi Sue,

Thanks Fru - you're right, this is an ad choices ad. We will take a look.

Itsfab · 08/05/2014 12:58

That explains the two books advertised after I had looked at the on Amazon. Big Brother is always watching you [eek].

Bike.

KateSMumsnet · 10/05/2014 13:25

Always watching, following you on a Bike

(I really like the new emoticon)

Itsfab · 10/05/2014 19:00

Just looked at somewhere to go on holiday through an email DH sent me. Back on to MN and it is streaming holiday lets from the same place. I Do Not Like It.

LackaDAISYcal · 10/05/2014 19:06

Aaargggghhhhh they are following me everywhere. I am sick to the back teeth of getting mailshots from them and thought I'd finally got the message through to stop sending them...now they are on here too

And if they are the best public school why do they have to advertise and mail shot so much? Surely their reputation would speak for them, not a million gaudy mailshots advertising their reduced fees...

clary · 10/05/2014 19:09

The worst is when you look online at underwear - and then every website you (or DH) looks at makes you feel like a pervert Grin

What's the bike about btw?

Itsfab · 10/05/2014 19:12

New emoticon

ExitPursuedByABear · 19/05/2014 14:34

I get followed around t'internet by Wellies and head collars.

Spooky.

Have they really threatened MNetters with legal action. Shock

HecatePropylaea · 19/05/2014 14:36

threatened mumsnetters with legal action? Why?

DoctorTwo · 19/05/2014 15:17

If you're getting ads based on what you've been looking at, get Ghostery or Self Destructing Cookies for Firefox or Chrome. If on IE enable Do Not Track, which might offer the same thing. Not sure though, I only used IE to download Firefox.

TalkinPeace · 19/05/2014 20:32

Exit / Hecate
Yes they did. We got messages threatening us under the defamation act.
We had to either agree to our comments being deleted, or give MNHQ our full names and addresses in case the lawyers came to call.
The thread is around somewhere .....

and YY to adblock : all those MN posters getting adverts for penguin bollards was surreal

"To learn who rules over you, simply find out who you are not allowed to criticise." - Voltaire
Why would an establishment purporting to be a mere school, go to such lengths to have negative comments expunged?

And why would someone go to the length of dragging up a zombie thread (i.e. advance searched QE, to rake up old threads) unless they had an axe to grind?
