Why does logging out on one device log you out of all devices?

Just that really! Occasionally (nightly) use the family iPad for mumsnetting. If I log out on the iPad, it also logs me out of the site on my phone. I'm getting a teeny bit annoyed at having to log into MN on my phone every morning.

Is this just how it is or is there a way round it?

Um, not sure SemiSkim but we will find out for you if you can bear with us for a bit...

OK ShamTech has a sneaky workaround for you:

'On the iPad, make sure you are logged out just this once, then use 'private browsing' and DON'T check the 'keep me logged in' box when you login. When you're finished, instead of logging out just switch back to non-private browsing and all trace of your mumsnet activities will be lost and you won't be logged in anymore.

On your phone just continue as you do normally.'

But yes, in general, if you have the 'keep me logged in' box ticked, logging out on one device will log you out on all your devices.

Thanks Rowan and ShamTech - that works for me. Hadn't crossed my mind to use private browsing, good way of making sure the children don't see what I've been reading Smile
