"Add a Message

It is with great regret that we have to ask members to refrain from any further discussion of Gina Ford, her methods or her books on the site. To find out why click here. We'd be very grateful if members could report any mentions of Gina Ford using the "contact Mumsnet" facility (the little red exclamation mark to the right of each posting). Many thanks. MNHQ. "

Never seen it before.

mp, how does it feel to be famous

Freckle · 08/08/2006 09:05

Don't they provide creches in prison these days?

flashingnose · 08/08/2006 09:07

I'd love to be a fly on the wall when you had to explain what you were in for (sorry)

Freckle · 08/08/2006 09:08

Interestingly, on the Daily Mail website there was the option to add "Readers' comments" to the article - which I took advantage of. However, when I just looked, that option has been removed. I wonder why? Especially as no comments had actually been printed.

golds · 08/08/2006 09:08

which paper is MP mentioned in, haven't read all the links.

I think this website is brilliant !!!!!

WideWebWitch · 08/08/2006 09:10

Freckle, I was just looking for where to post comments on the Mail site too and you can't, I thought I was missing something but no.

tigermoth · 08/08/2006 09:11

well, I wanted to be sure - must say I feel more like emailing than writing a letter at the moment! Things are moving too fast for Royal Mail.

Tommy · 08/08/2006 09:11

do you think she has threatened to sue Daily Mail if the coments appear there too?

Kaloo20 · 08/08/2006 09:12

perhaps the Daily Mail have checked out this post and decided they don't want us to being their servers to an halt through overloading :-)

Jimjams2 · 08/08/2006 09:13

I was about to add a DM comment as well- weird!

SenoraPostrophe · 08/08/2006 09:14

what I don't understand is how something that is patently untrue and in fact absurd can be libellous. Why aren't all of the comedians and satirists in the country being sued?

Freckle · 08/08/2006 09:17

Possibly because they have the money and support to fight a court case. If you know someone does not have the money to fight a case, the mere threat of one will achieve what you want.

SenoraPostrophe · 08/08/2006 09:18

Mumnsnet Muffia RULES
I love the Daily Mail (for one day only!)

morningpaper · 08/08/2006 09:25

I am quoted in quite a few.

The Independent says: "Discussions on the website about the author have angered so much that her lawyers have written to the site's internet provider demanding that it be closed down for "publishing defamatory statements". The postings, they say, include some which accuse of being unhygienic or cruel - even one which satirically suggested she "straps babies to rockets"."

Harpsichordcarrier I am rather jealous of YOUR quote because it completes the argument rather perfectly, non? I mean it really gets to the point.

Darling we are SOOO famous.

Big lol that I am not quoted in the Gulf Times. [gri]

LondonTig · 08/08/2006 09:28

took courage in both hands and emailed Daily Mail in time to add a comment or two

SenoraPostrophe · 08/08/2006 09:28

the ironic thing is, I defended nobody after that harpsichordcarrier post, saying you had to look at the context. nothing strips context like a lawyers letter now does it?

sassy · 08/08/2006 09:29

I have only seen this today and I am INCENSED.

I have been out to the garage and dug nobody's toddler book out of the bottom of the charity shop bag. I have now parcelled it up and am going to return it to the publishers this morning with an accompanying letter.

Letter states my outrage at the freedom of speech issue and requests my money back as i am not happy for anyone to make profits out of me while similtaneously (I'll check the sp before I send it!) behaving in a way which I find so morally repugnant.

I know I don't have a cat in hell's chance of getting a refund but if enough people do this it would make vermillion sit up and take notice.

Sorry you're in for all this crap MNHQ.

morningpaper · 08/08/2006 09:30

Oh fabulous irony.

After previous complaints from World Famous Author that mumsnet would confuse people because searching for World Famous Author's name would bring up mumsnet - when at the time mumsnet did not appear in the first 400 results - Mumsnet is now the FOURTH place result when you search for Said Author's name.

fairyjay · 08/08/2006 09:30
