Hello - or should we say, ??

Those with a keen eye for detail might've noticed something different about our logo today Wink

The characters say Mumsnet, in honour of Chinese New Year, which is being celebrated today. To get the Year of the Horse off to a cracking start, we've published a Mumsnet guide to Mandarin, because if there's one thing we've learned over the years, it's that mothers the world over share a propensity to wonder if they're being unreasonable.

You can also find out what your zodiac animal is and get inspired with Mumsnetters' Chinese recipes.

If you're celebrating, let us know what you'll be getting up to below.

A very happy Chinese New Year and gan bei (cheers) from MNHQ Smile

Well done MN ! Brilliant !
Cooked all day Chinese dinner, DS 5yo even ate his noodles with chopsticks, asked why I invited invisible guests to dinner (my dad, my grand parents, sadly missed for at least 10 years) but went to put chairs for them and insisted that I serve their bowls too ! taking DCs to celebration at the Chinese school on Sun. Trying to give a sense of origins and belonging to them.
I am a dog, DH is a horse, DS is a rat and DD is a dragon !

I'm a dragon, as is DH. DD is a rabbit, and DS a snake.
The DC have always loved their animals, and the chinese new year story is fab isn't it ?

  • I love the sneaky rat getting ahead on someone else's nose

And I'm glad I'm a dragon - secretly I think that has to be the best character Smile

Well done MN! I unfortunately did not get round to doing anything special for Chinese New Year. Would have cooked up a storm back home but couldn't as it was a work day... And seriously busy week it was this week. So I got some food from the chinese restaurant.

I will have to give the kids the red packets later.
