Script issues on firefox in SN.

Hi Techs Smile

Tonight, when posting on the SN board, firefox keeps freezing, the status says 'not responding' then a box comes up to say that a script has stopped running:

"Script: media.struq.com/content/assets/html5/r2.0.3/js/StruqAdContainer.js?0:23"

Is this something to do with the ads on the site, or firefox?

It's quite annoying because I'm having to stop the script and reload the page, every minute or two.

Also, I've had a script fail called 'tap-2...something...rubiconproject'

rubiconproject is an ad company, too isn't it?

I really need to know if it's MN's end that's causing the failures or firefox/my computer somehow.

Please Smile

Thanks for posting - we'll report this to tech

I am really sorry to hear that you are experiencing technical problems and I just wanted you to know that we are on the case. I have been trying for the last hour to see if I am able to replicate the issue on my machine, but everything seems to be working fine from my end. Should this problem resurface again I would really appreciate a screen grab if possible. It might also be a good idea to check that your browser and plugins are all updated as this might help to fix the issue.

lougle · 29/01/2014 11:08

Thanks, Richard, I'll let you know if it happens again.

(Just to remind you lougle, you can now upload pictures in Site Stuff threads, so use that to add the screen shot if you like)

Are you with BT?
I ask this because ever since they did 'le grande makeover' with the football TV stuff a couple of months ago, my computer had gone haywire....including the same problems you describe....andI use firefox too.

I had to have the machine given a thorough clean up, to remove corruption that this had caused. Plus have all the sneaky stuff BT was playing on my machine, removed.

It is now functioning fine.

ShimmeringInTheSun · 29/01/2014 11:16

Ps - this had gone on a for a few weeks to the point where BT was even blocking me out of my email accounts saying they believed my accounts were at risk......but they weren't, it was just their stupid mess up that caused it all....ridiculous.

When it got to the point where my system stopped functioning completely, that's when I got it sorted, and it took a whole day!

I really should have got it sorted earlier!

lougle · 29/01/2014 11:32

Thanks Rowan, will do.
Shimmering, that's interesting. Yes, I'm with BT.

The IT wizard that fixed mine says he's getting several calls a week now relating to this very same thing. I've decided that if it happens again, I shall leave BT altogether, as I'm really not impressed. Especially as my charges have gone up to accommodate all these new amenities they now have available....which I don't use and have never asked for. Very annoying.

Hope you get things sorted.

nannynick · 29/01/2014 11:59

Interesting, wonder what BTinternet are installing on your system. No problems with PlusNet (a BT group company) so something to do with streaming sport may be the cause, though it could alas be anything.

Here's a screen shot, techs Smile

It's only happened on the SN board, so far...but I use that one mostly anyway, so a likely coincidence.

It's not very clear.

It says at the bottom left of the screen 'read-tap2...rubiconproject'

Then the box comes out with the "Script: media.struq.com/content/assets/html5/r2.0.3/js/StruqAdContainer.js?0:23"

It offers the choice to stop the script or continue in hope that it completes.

Thanks for providing the screen grab and the error messages lougle. This might well be an ad related issue, so to help us pin point the troublesome ad can I ask you to kindly send us a screen grab of the ads showing on the page when the script error appears. Look forward to your reply and thanks in advance for your time.

lougle · 30/01/2014 21:28

Great, will do. Thanks Richard.
