With all the drama tonight, would it be an idea to ask someone from a refuge charity or WA to come into Mumsnet for a chat?

Give everyone an idea of what they can and can't help with, and what exactly posters should do if they are trying to support someone in a DV situation?

Excellent idea. Maybe you should report your post to MNHQ to bring their attention to it?

Hello

We did have a webchat with Deborah McIlveen from Women's Aid a couple of years ago, but that was more focused on the precarious financial position of domestic violence service providers and refuges.

We'll definitely have a think about what sort of content it might be useful for us to do on safety, and the best way to help people wanting to leave abusive relationships.

Posters are advised, though, by others to dial 999 in an emergency.

It's quite unsettling to see threads like that, especially when others are offering to drive miles to pick them up or pay for a local hotel.

Hopefully people in those kind of situations post before any potentially dangerous situations arise.

Bumping this to try and change the general direction of discussion back to 'useful' Wine

I know that RhonddaJean suggested this also; it's a great idea.

... and well done, Rooners too.

I'd be interested in some education on this.

Agreed, this would be useful. Well, I'd find it useful.
