How do I hide threads on the phone app?

CuttedUpPear · 19/01/2014 13:30

I want to get rid of the MN sponsored ones (sorry MNHQ) because they clog up at the top of the page and I have to wait for it to reload twice before I can get to the juicy human interest ones.

How can I edit them away? I've done it on my laptop but not my phone.

TIA.

Go to hide stickies in customise I think. Although I'm on mobile site so it might be different?

OohMrDarcy · 20/01/2014 13:47

ooh I was wondering about those too... so frustrating having to scroll through them all before you can see anything in actives!

CuttedUpPear · 20/01/2014 15:17

Aaargh it's infuriating. The app doesn't have any stickies to hide or otherwise.

In the topics section all you can do is add topics, not subtract them.

MNHQ, we need help!

Have reported to try for answers

CatherineMumsnet · 20/01/2014 20:05

You should be able to hide them in customise - let us know if this doesn't work

OohMrDarcy · 20/01/2014 20:17

I can't see customise Catherine?

I have settings - which only gives option to logout or flip direction of thread....

android app if it helps

CuttedUpPear · 21/01/2014 10:02

Catherine I have the same as OohMrDarcy.

I have the Android app, and all I see in Settings is the option to logout or flip thread.
I can't see anything called Customise.

In My Topics there is no option to add or remove topics.

Some of the MN threads I have to scroll through are over 2 months old. Many of them only have a handful of posters - at least that's what it looks like from my end. The Diane Abbott one on the Delhi rape murder for instance has been at 14 posts for ever.
I'm not sure if this is a result of the whole lot being stuck at the top of my active threads or not.

I have threads from last summer in the list! Think I'll report again!

PfftTheMagicDraco · 22/01/2014 13:24

This drives me spare!

AmyMumsnet · 22/01/2014 14:34

Hi there,

Thanks for flagging this. We're not sure that it can be fixed, unfortunately. Could you post from the mobile site instead?

OohMrDarcy · 22/01/2014 15:35

Kind of defeats the object of the app

YY to this defeating the object of the app.
I don't want to use the mobile site as I am under the (possibly mistaken) impression that it will be cheaper for me to access MN this way.

Don't the stickies (if that's what they are) go out of date anyway?

Cake for tech

I don't want to use the mobile site, it's rubbish!

PfftTheMagicDraco · 24/01/2014 21:20

I just checked, and the oldest one I have pinned there is from June last year!

FluffyDucky · 24/01/2014 21:23

This problem a royal pain in the ass! But a way around it is to go into your settings on your phone and the app settings, clear all the data and cookies. You will have to log back in but it clears all the stickies!

CuttedUpPear · 24/01/2014 22:03

I'm not sure I know how to do that on my phone

why, on this thread, do MNHQ not know about this? (that sounds arsey, it isn't meant to but it's been a long day and I can't think if a rephrased sentence Thanks )

it has been reported time and again and we have, in the past, been told by MNHQ that they are trying to fix it.

Its been a problem for approx 1 year (that I know of)

OP (and others) you can get a temporary fix by uninstalling the app and then reinstalling. it only works short term though.

TwinklyMummaLuvsHerBubba89 · 24/01/2014 22:05

or what Fluffy said..... much easier
