Please can we have a rule that if the person insulted replies immediately on thread and clearly isn't bothered about being insulted. This doesn't warrant a deletion, let alone several.

I'll second that. If someone insults me I want it left there for all to see and people can make up their own mind if the poster was out of order.

I expect if it's reported by others MN feel they have to do something. Moderating is a tricky business.

Yes, I was being slightly rude (but no swearing or proper nastiness) in response to some one taking a slightly justifiable pop at me.

I was stirring, because people were being smug and not answering the OPs question.

But I'm now left apologizing to the OP for a hole in a perfectly reasonable thread and that's Blush

I think they should stand too, so in time to come and emotions not running as high you can see exactly what happened. If it's bullying etc people can then see it for what it is.
