HemmingGate: To ban or not to ban, that is the question MNHQ

CarpeVinum · 30/12/2013 17:46

Some of us would like to know if a certain politico will be banned, proper.

No rush.

We know you have a lot on your plate with ... stuff.

(I probably got two quotes mixed up in subject line. Don't panic! It's me not you. Am philistine. Italy is wasted on me. Not keen on art, prefer shopping.)

have retweeted

this is getting a bit confusing, having two threads on the go

CarpeVinum · 31/12/2013 10:52

True. The other one should be full soon though.

We were not supposed to post here yet.

so any meaningful retweets I need to be aware of?

CarpeVinum · 31/12/2013 11:29

.. But WITH you, not AT you..

OP posts:
CarpeVinum · 31/12/2013 11:31

Yes,

Guido Fawkes tweeted about projected LibDem losses in Eurp MP thingiemabob election.

I jioned in. With "not sober" on Mumsnet Hemming dig.

JakeBullet · 31/12/2013 11:31

Personally I am not in favour of banning him. I am in favour of giving the man (and I use the term "man" in it's loosest possible sense) enough of a platform and plenty of rope so that he can hang himself!

Grennie · 31/12/2013 11:36

I hope he is permanently banned. He certainly should be.

CarpeVinum · 31/12/2013 11:36

At this point I don't think there is enough rope in the world to do that.

Short of taking a steaming dump by Cameron's left shoe during PMQT, not sure there is anything that will make TPTB do more than go Hmm at him.

OP posts:
CarpeVinum · 31/12/2013 11:40

So I vote ban.

At the very least the adoptive mothers here deserve some respite.

All this fecking work, and four kilos down, I want him held accountable SOMEWHERE at least.

And MNHQ banning him would underline that they are more proactive at holding elcted offical accountable for their actions just like the rest of us.... than the fecking seats of power running the country.

Hello

Truth is we're on a reduced staff for the holidays and we want to look at this properly when everyone's back at their desks.

Until we do, we'd be grateful if everyone could refrain from personal attacks please (not to mention anything bordering on more legally problematic stuff). A suspended poster is still an MNer and we don't allow personal attacks on them. So we'd be grateful if you could bear that in mind.

Thanks
MNHQ

JakeBullet · 31/12/2013 11:54

Yeah on reflection I agree....ban him.

CarpeVinum · 31/12/2013 12:05

Rowan

I understand completely that perspective.

But.... it leaves MN wide open to politicians making acounts here and then claiming "poster immunity". Promtly killing dead poltical discussion anywhere on mumsnet that isn't in tone and content.

DavidCameron and BorisJohnson et al will be here by next Tuesday if critisim of them can be censored from MN under the "deleted for PA on another MN poster" rule.

They have great priviledge with their elected role. They cannot be treated as "one of us" becuase they are patently NOT one of us.

Us couldn't possibly get away with a millionth of the shit they do. Not here, not in the real world, not anywhere.

If I had posted those three children's names... a mumsnet ban would be the bleeding least of my worries.

But do appreciate short staffed-itus.

Happy New Yesr !

Yep, I agree with Rowan (though I accept your points Carpe, and more than most I appreciate how frustrating it can be).

Tempted as I may be to push the boundaries, it's important that we keep this whole thing (relatively) civil. Because if push comes to shove, and if Mumsnet ends up facing any sort of legal hoo-ha, they'll have to delete the lot for the greater good of the site as a whole, iyswim.

So play nice, people. You can catch more flies with honey than vinegar, yada yada.

IamtheZombie · 31/12/2013 12:15

Thank you, Rowan.

MadameDefarge · 31/12/2013 12:18

While I generally disapprove of deletions, in this case I would be more than happy for MNHQ to trawl and delete any possibly contentious posts.

keeping it clean, an' all.

MaryzBoychildCheeszuzCrizpz · 31/12/2013 12:20

It might take a while Madame Grin

And we really don't want the threads deleted en masse, so behave everyone [stern]

How's the head Rowan? I asked Julie yesterday and she assured me she had stayed off the cases of mnhq gin, I do hope you have done the same.

MadameDefarge · 31/12/2013 12:26

poor julie had to hold my hand last night as I wailed about being locked out of MN...

You dodged a bullet there, Rowan.

DoItTooBabyJesus · 31/12/2013 13:03

I'm afraid I'm a twitter novice. I have an account and I think I follow you. Who said its like FaceBook on speed? It's worse than that!

CarpeVinum · 31/12/2013 13:28

It's awful DoIt like MNHQ threw all the threads on the floor in a mass of muddled up posts and you are supposed to try and work out which bit goes where.

And it keeps crashing on me.

Still, that's where the cool kids hang out....
