Bookmarks not working ? (On safari ipad)

Just noticed I can't bookmark any new posts and it's not working on other threads previously bookmarked - anyone else.
I'm on my ipad on safari but not the mobile site

I just bookmarked your post with no issue.

It must be me then - the little grey box comes up when I touch the screen but then disappears.
Mobile site on iPhone is ok

I seem to have lost the bookmark button on the mobile site instead.
Was there until yesterday or day before? Have checked settings and it's opted in.
Help please???
