Warnings due to potentially harmful files on MN.

Don't know if it's anything to do with the ads that pop up, but I keep getting warnings from my phones security settings that opening files may be harmful- they're automatically opening. I do have a screen dump.

I'm running Chrome on Android 4.1.2

I've had that once or twice too, a month ago, before going away. No advice, but I am also interested. Has it ever happened on other sites you've gone on?

It's only been on MN that I can remember, I had it before too, annoying and a little worrying as to what is happening

We're sorry to hear that you're having problems. Is there any chance that you'd be able to take a screen shot of the pop ups so we can block them?

Oh I had this yesterday and the day before - mine was 'Panda' something or other and it wouldn't let me access MN at all, in fact it crashed internet explorer. It stayed blocking MN for about an hour and then I could access MN again.

JulieJingleBellsMumsnet I tried to take a 'snip' of it and couldn't.

The app has randomly closed down a few times in the last few days, & where the ad goes along the bottom of the screen it said 'forbidden' for ages. Is this anything to do with the same thing?

i am being swamped with ads... flashy ads, redirects, video ads. all on different machines.

my phone is the only thing that is the least irritating. just redirects when opening up a new page.

using a pc or laptop is neigh on impossible.

Can we do a quick straw poll - are people generally experiencing this on their phones or pcs? Screen shots of the ads you're seeing would be v helpful.

Am going to run this by Tech, but to my ear it sounds like something external to Mumsnet, as we don't host pop-ups or flashy ads. Or at least I hope it is external.

I experience it on mobile site on my phone. Chrome/android 4.4

Warns me that an .apk is about to be downloaded to phone. .apk name matches banner ad at top of page (which I have not clicked on). Have never experienced this on any other site.

Mobigenie is one, and there was a betting one too. Only happens very rarely (ie I dont see those particular as very often).

If it happens again I will screenshot.

Hi MNKate, I've managed to get a 'snip' of the adware this morning and copied down the website link and have sent it to MNHQ at [email protected].

When this adware is up, you can't access Mumsnet AT ALL until it disappears. It only ever comes up on my PC, my phone is v.v. old. Hope this helps.
