The ads seem to activate automatically. This is a sinister development.

Arf! Do you mean ads that pop up. or stuff at the sides of the pages?

moondog · 16/12/2013 23:01

The stuff at the side. If the cursor travel over it, it activates even without clicking. I know more tan I ever needed to about John and his indigestion by now.

John and his twin brother James? I feel your pain. They make me stabby and I've never met them.

Being practical, get a Flash blocker which should stop ads auto playing.

lougle · 17/12/2013 09:10

Yes. Not all of them though. The EE ad has to be clicked on.

DecorKateTheXmasTreeMumsnet · 17/12/2013 11:05

The truth is life is increasingly like a Philip K Dick novel now, and adverts that wake up when you run the cursor over them is pretty much A Standard Thing. Pre-cognition and replicants are not far behind.

moondog · 17/12/2013 22:02

Blimey....
It already shows ads in languages I speak. How do the buggers know?

BIWI · 17/12/2013 22:08

Ah. I have been getting one at the top of my screen (I think it might an ad choices one) in Italian. Which is odd, as I don't speak any Italian!

moondog · 17/12/2013 23:33

Perhaps they know something you don't biwi!! They are predicting you will take an Italian night class in 2014.

I started a thread on this recently- it's driving me mad, and crashing my browser constantly Hmm

I wish it was dettol- I had "get great sex"!

and Sky Hmm - don't have a television...

Moshi monster movie

and other stuff Ive no idea what it's advertising, mostly boots the chemist I think

I have the Italian vistaprint thingy too BIWI!

steppemum · 18/12/2013 09:16

my browser keeps crashing too. All due to ads.

The worst thing is when I have several tabs open and suddenly an ad starts playing very loudly, and it isn't even on the tab I am reading and I have to frantically check every tab until I find it and can close it. Not impressed at all.

RowanMumsnet · 18/12/2013 09:40

Sorry about this - it shouldn't be happening. We'll get our ad team to track them down and exterminate them

VworpVworp · 19/12/2013 22:03

The latest one is 'jump into ireland', a tesco one, bmw

JammyDodger1 · 20/12/2013 17:16

why has this just started happening to me when it has never happened before?
