Mumsnet Local - are there any outside of UK and how do you access them?

I used to look at the Brussels group and if I search I can find the list of threads but I cannot go to MN Local and find it there (map thingy).

Have now moved so Brussels not of interest any more. Are there other forrin Locals or do we need to stick with Living Overseas?

Presumably the map thingy doesn't work? I guess it must be linked to a UK and Irish postcode finder, but not international postcodes?

Otherwise it looks as though you'll have to wade your way through the alphabetical list, looking out for your city or country.

I can see that Brussels is still there. And at a quick glance there's Chicago, Christchurch NZ, Switzerland and Sydney AUS. I'm sure there must be a few more dotted around as well.

If there isn't one for the city/country you're looking for, I suppose you could ask MNHQ to set one up? Are there enough people in your area who would see it, or do you think that Living Overseas is a section that's more frequently used?

oh yes. where do you go to look at the list?

FruOla · 12/12/2013 08:12

Click on Topics A-Z, which takes you to all topics by category sorted alphabetically.

Then scroll down the alphabet until you get to Local.

Then scroll down to find your town/city/county/area - so it starts with Local - Aberdeen and so on.

ooh, I found it. Thanks. MN HQ, seeing how well hidden and little used the non-british/irish local boards are is there any way you can make this more accessible? For instance, being able to click on the map, or on the list of topics (not A-Z) could you show the local sites?

Thanks for raising this folks. We're aware that Local site for outside the UK aren't quite as good as they could be, and we're working on a system to make them better, but it might be a while before this is in place. But rest assured that plans and being made and blueprints being drawn Xmas Smile
