Why are pages autorefreshing ?

I've noticed some threads autorefreshing every minute or so, the last day or so.

I find it really distracting; is this a new "feature" or a blip ?

Windows 7 Opera [I know, I know, you don't "support" Opera]

Does it on my iPhone too, v annoying.
