Tech <whimper> the search doesn't distinguish between lower and upper case letters

it's not really very important. just a bit annoying
but you see the name registration has allowed someone to be Arfy, whereas I was arfy

but when you search, it doesn't distinguish between the two and even shows 'arfy' on the search results page when it was 'Arfy' who posted

I just think if upper/lower case makes a difference when registering your chatname then it should also do so when searching by chatname....

I know I am pedantic

Arfy and arfy have to be the same person.

The name is what is logged against the email address, capitalisation doesn't matter.

zippitippitoes · 16/07/2006 12:16

the names aren't case sensitive so any combination of capitals and lower cse is only registered to one individual

MsJohnCusack · 16/07/2006 12:36

What are you on about Arfy???

FrannytheBakedBeanSaviour · 16/07/2006 12:55

I just tried to log on as greensleeves, gReensleeves and GREENSLEEVES

None of them worked

Do you think Greeny has gone berserk and covered all the bases?

MrsJohnCusack · 16/07/2006 13:00

THEY'RE NOT THE SAME PERSON!!!!!

someone else has been able to post as Arfy LOOK - now I know I'm all hormonal and everything but I didn't post that. I wouldb remember

wasn't registered as arfy at that point but that doesn't usually matter does it? - that's why we can't use names when their owner is being 'someone else' temporarily. In fact it won't let me go back to arfy so I guess my name has gone now

BTW worked in IT so can take techy explanations.... . HOw come my name has gone when others haven't

I am only 8 weeks pregnant (mind you waist measurement is still bigger than the other Arfy's harrumph)

and I am not called Alison

i JUST TRIED FRANNYANDZOOEY NO LUCK THERE EITHER

hunkermunker · 16/07/2006 13:07

I'll wait for JJ or Tech to clarify - but don't tell MJC it's impossible for two people to be the same name because it's not and I have proof

MrsJohnCusack · 16/07/2006 13:07

oh it was fundal height not waist measurement

stupid me
but not that confused - yet

OP posts:
MrsJohnCusack · 16/07/2006 13:08

yess but it won't let me be arfy anymore

anyway am going out now and will expect fulsome explanations upon my return

actually don't worry, just a bit miffed I can't go back to arfy

You need to email MNHQ and ask what is going on.

Are you sure no one had access to your PC to make a post?

Names are definately not case sensitive and should stay with the email address they are first taken by.

zippitippitoes · 16/07/2006 18:36

let us know the answer it sounds weird

zippitippitoes · 17/07/2006 11:08

did you find out the answer yet?

hunkermunker · 17/07/2006 11:18

It happened to me.

zippitippitoes · 17/07/2006 11:29

did they explain how it happened?

and did you get the name back?

hunkermunker · 17/07/2006 23:06

And no.

MrsJohnCusack · 17/07/2006 23:07
