PROBLEMS GETTING ONLINE FOR MN?

annhathaway · 25/11/2013 09:47

Since yesterday when I've typed in the URL for MN it's come up as 'site not found' for 50% of the time I try to access the site. Is anyone else finding this? It's coming up as if I've made a typo in the URl and offering me a list of suggested sites- including the right one!!!- but clicking on the link doesn't work either. Not having any problems with any other sites just MN.

On a more serious note, I think we may be emerging from the more densely wooded area. Sorry about today's problems. Something happened that made something break, but because we'd just done a big change over the weekend, we figured initially the break must be a result of the big change. But it wasn't. So it took a while longer than normal to fix as we had to figure that out first.

Hi Tech. I just had a wierd TIO experience - it all lost it's formatting and then when I refreshed it was all gone completely except ads and title. I refreshed a second time and it came back to normal.

Hi lougle, the "stylesheet" that tells your browser what colours to use, how to draw the boxes etc, comes from a different machine from the main page. We share the load among a few machines. So it can happen that your request for the stylesheet fails, though your main request succeeds. So you can get a page that has no styling. It should only happen very occasionally (well it should happen never really but things go wrong, networks are unreliable etc.) Do let us know if it looks like it's happening again though. Thanks.

lougle · 25/11/2013 22:40

Thanks tech, I can cope with no style Wink

shimmeringinthesun · 25/11/2013 22:52

Just to say that I've just been experiencing the same as Lougle, plus the posts were displayed so large that they wouldn't fit onto the page.

This is after me constantly being disconnected, or told the site couldn't be found, or that the site was offline.

I have already suffered several major needle traumas today which involved both dental and phlebotomy and I have no chocolate .

This is the tipping point!! Grin

I have the same problem I think. I've stopped getting 'web page can't be found' messages but almost every 2nd or 3rd page I try to open has no styling.

tech, I'd so love to see your infrastructure but I have a suspicion it might make me cry!

SillyBeardyDaddyman · 26/11/2013 17:21

CommanderShepard that sounds like the geekiest chat-up line ever.

CommanderShepard · 26/11/2013 18:01

I did think that as soon as I hit post! "hey baby, let me see your server rack... come touch my patch panel..."

(not that we're in any way geeky in our house. No.)

I'm glad it's not just me. I thought it was my ipad,

ticolac · 27/11/2013 07:13

Still having problems. So slow to load and the final page of this thread has just taken 7 minutes to load on an iPad.

RubyGoat · 27/11/2013 10:16

Still having problems. Replaced my chocolate addiction with Mumsnet. I will blame tech if I put the weight back on. grr.

I keep getting a flashing banner ad when I use active topics redirecting me to an app for an Asian dating site Hmm

@gamerchick

Gamerchick- if you see it again, could you let me know the exact wording on it? I'm guessing you saw it when on a mobile? It would be great if you could send us a screen shot to the normal contactus address but I know this can be difficult on some phones.

Thanks for reporting.
