for posters to be reminded that if they post asking a very specific factual question (ie, where is the local post office in so and so area) they at least have the good manners to acknowledge and say thank you to the posters who have bothered to reply.

From my experience it seems most don't bother. In which case I would like to be able to ask them to google it, as google does not have feelings.

I don't mean within half an hour. but maybe a day or so...

I agree with you. I often spend time posting links to places, or information, that might be useful. It's not that I need thanks, but I'd like to know what the OP might have done in the end.

Could HQ add the option to thank a poster as you see on other sites? Appreciation is easy to note that way, and can be used by anyone who finds the information useful. Akin to a like button, but one of thanks.
