Mine looks different too. Better for me - although I've not tried PMing anyone yet. I'm on Android with a tiny smartphone.

I have no problem with the new look, but I'm blind as a bat I struggle with tiny text :( also on an android smart phone with a huge screen for my decrepit old eyes
