it seems my username is more appropriate than i anticipated because having just joined this site I am already in a foul mood - all i want to do is post a question to other members to get their advice on something.have read the 'getting started' which leaves me none the wiser - tells you how to add to an existing conversation but not how to start your own. my topic does not match any of the areas of 'talk' identified - that i can see anyway. it comes under children's toys/gadgets but does not match a category identified already. why isn't there just a clear way of just asking a question of other members??

Put it in chat? Go to "Topics" over there ----> and find Chat. Then at the top there is an option to "Create conversation in this topic"

AngelsLieToKeepControl · 21/09/2013 14:40

^What Shakey said. If in doubt ask in Chat Smile

FruOla · 21/09/2013 15:56

I agree with Shakey and Angels, post it in _Chat - here is a direct link to Chat for you www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat.

Make sure your thread title is quite obvious, i.e :

I need help with X toy/gadget

and then you can post more information into the post (rather like you have in this post)

nannynick · 21/09/2013 16:41

I agree, try Chat.

If it is a very technical question about a gadget, then perhaps try Geeky Stuff.

There is a Toys and Games Chat though not sure how popular that is. You may be better off posting in Chat if you want a quick response.

Welcome to Mumsnet! You can always send us an email at [email protected] if you get stuck. There's always the report button too - in the blue bar where poster's names appear. Hope you get some useful responses!
