People are arguing vehemently on a thread for exclusion of disabled people from.some places unless they can behave acceptably (the tourettes in cinema thread).and you are nowhere to be seen?

BulletProofVestyBunny · 12/09/2013 14:22

Crikey is that still going on? - I looked in on it yesterday and thought it was destined to disappear.

or at least get the Olivia cough.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 12/09/2013 14:23

Yes..and its got a lot lot worse. But no sign on MNHQ who also refused to delete many posts yesterday.

I've just had another look and they have commented a couple of times, and put the 'MN have commented' line at the top. Perhaps they think there's nothing more they can add to that.

AmberLeaf · 12/09/2013 14:27

I gave up on it days ago.

So it's gone the same way as previous ones? I expect it will be allwed to run to 1000 posts too?

Not good.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 12/09/2013 14:27

I wouldn't have thought theyd want threads like that standing given a recent high profile media campaign about being understanding about disability but clearly I know nothing. Unless they have all been abducted by aliens.

OP posts:
fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 12/09/2013 14:28

Yes..its like the panto thread which was eventually deleted with many apologies for leaving it so long.

OP posts:
fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 12/09/2013 14:29

But this has gone further I think

OP posts:
AmberLeaf · 12/09/2013 14:30

I can't face reading from when I last posted, but I can imagine.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 12/09/2013 14:33

Very sensible I think :)

OP posts:
BulletProofVestyBunny · 12/09/2013 14:36

I have just read to the end.

MNHQ have DEFINITELY been abducted by aliens.

or started early on the gin.

But what about Olivia?

DEFINITELY aliens then.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 12/09/2013 14:37

Yes isn't it strange

In case MNHQ have lost the thread or something

OP posts:
AmberLeaf · 12/09/2013 14:40

ok I just read the last couple of pages.

Sigh.

Why does this keep happening?

MNHQ need to back up their 'this is my child' talk. I love the campaign, but they need to put their money where their mouths are.

So many on that thread being utter arseholes and getting away with it.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 12/09/2013 14:43

Yes they definitely do. And aren't.

OP posts:
fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 12/09/2013 14:44

I really thought theyd be worried by such talk on their site. Don't understand the silence at all.

OP posts:
AmberLeaf · 12/09/2013 14:45

Ive now posted to MNHQ on there and reported my post.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 12/09/2013 14:46

Have reported loads. Was told repeatedly yesterday posts would stand..nothing today

OP posts:
IceBeing · 12/09/2013 14:52

bumping...I think the thread did good as well as bad...but you guys are the experts on that balance so if you think it should go then I do too.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 12/09/2013 14:56

Didnt do.me.good..have had 2 days of feeling upset tbh

OP posts:
AmberLeaf · 12/09/2013 14:58

I know what you mean, but this thread pops up over and over again.

It causes upset and stress and threads like this drive members away, members that often rely on online interaction due to their caring responsibilities.

I think that when threads start to turn, they should be looked and a link to the 'this is my child' campaign posted.

I thought one of the purposes of the campaign was to educate people so we didn't have to keep on doing this.

Im glad that you have got something out of it though [genuinely!] Thanks.

AmberLeaf · 12/09/2013 14:58

looked = locked

IceBeing · 12/09/2013 15:13

fanjo sorry to hear that...

I was going to say maybe MN should have a day when every single disablist comment was replaced with a pointer to the campaign...

but that makes a bit of a mockery of having a rule against making disablist comments in the first place.

It is hard because some people genuinely don't realise how silly it is to compare voluntary behaviour with involuntary...the whole any noise is noise so lets treat all sources of noise the same way argument.

Several people on the thread accepted the flaw of that argument because it was pointed out....just sending them a pointer to the campaign wouldn't do the same trick....

gah I don't know...really going to butt out now.

Thanks to all of you dealing with this day in day out.

Hello

Many apologies (again) for taking a while to get this one; we've had a mountain of mail to deal with over the last couple of days.

We're going to go through the recent posts and reports now, but in the meantime we'd be grateful if you could remember our Talk Guidelines, particularly the bits about disablism and about personal attacks.

Thanks
MNHQ

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 12/09/2013 15:39

Ice..please . don't butt out :)
