How long has that been there? Only just noticed it and came here to start a thread.

Not sure about the slightly random selection of possible topics though - Site Stuff isn't on the list, you have to go to 'some other topic' which takes you to the main topic page, so you might as well have gone straight to that anyway...

I think that Site Stuff is one of the 'essentials' to have on the list. It strikes me, sometimes, looking at some threads in AIBU and Chat, that some MNers don't realise that there's a topic where you can ask questions directly to MNHQ - particularly when something major has happened on the site and there are random threads all over the place, which would be more easily answered by a single thread here.

Hi there. The list does change. It just shows you the topics that happen to be around on Active Conversations at the time. Gives you a bit of variety.

Oh dear, it's just occurred to me that, of course, Sham would be a nickname, or shortening, of his real name - in which case I was such a numpty for that not to have occurred to me earlier

I think it's a great idea.

Is there any chance that some topics could always be there? (I was thinking about one or more of the education ones, that don't quite make it to the 'popular' list at the bottom of the page, but which are really very useful).
