I searched for vegetarian recipes and some of the are tuna Hmm

Can I somehow report them so they can be moved please?

That well known vegetable the tuna fish.... Grin.

If you haven't had a response yet, could you cut and paste a link to a couple of them onto this thread and then report the post?

hugoagogo · 31/08/2013 13:00

Ok, here is the link- 'vegetarian recipes'

SilverApples · 31/08/2013 13:02

What plonker is running that section? Grin
Really? vegetarian recipes should contain no products that require the death of the animal.

hugoagogo · 31/08/2013 13:10

It does drive me a bit mad.

A friend of mine whom I understood to be vegetarian chose a tuna sandwich for lunch recently; I was gobsmacked, she looked at me and said "it's just easier to say I'm vegetarian because no one knows what pescetarian means"

I would imagine nobody "runs" recipes - posters choose which category to put their recipes in

the tuna ones should be under fish but I imagine a lot of non-vege people tend to think "not meat" = vege

Ponders · 31/08/2013 13:18

in fact do a search under Fish recipes, tick the vegetarian box & see what comes up Grin

SilverApples · 31/08/2013 13:19

I think one of my pet irritanst is food on a buffet that isn't flagged as to the contents.
So I either have to take a thingummy and dissect it to check, or find a willing colleague and ask them to eat one and report. Smile

\link{http://www.mumsnet.com/Recipes?call=com.mumsnet.recipes.SearchPage&DO_SEARCH=DO_SEARCH&searchText=&mealType=Meat+recipes&yn_veggie=on\vegetarian} meat recipes Shock

SilverApples · 31/08/2013 13:26

I want to add a selection of cannibal recipes, in the spirit of Jonathan Swift.

bsc · 31/08/2013 13:32

Are yousure they don't mean tunip? Vegemals arevegetarian aren't they?

Ponders · 31/08/2013 13:35

oh doooo, SilverApples. I promise not to report it!

SilverApples · 31/08/2013 13:35

It could be a recipe on how to cook a vegetarian.

Ponders · 31/08/2013 13:36

TheContrastofWhiteonWhite · 31/08/2013 15:39

Especially loving the one that specifies turkey or beef mince. At least some you could say could be made with veggie sausage or whatever

KateSMumsnet · 31/08/2013 15:49

Oh dear Blush

Sorry about this guys! We'll get our content team to sort this out asap - though it might be a wee while, what with it being the weekend.

Have some Cake in the meantime, strictly no tuna.

hugoagogo · 31/08/2013 17:20

Thanks for that Smile scoffs Cake

Ponders · 02/09/2013 18:34

Kate, the "vegetarian" meat recipes have gone now (well done!) but the "vegetarian" fish ones are still there

(ie search for fish recipes & tick vegetarian box. There are 13 of them Grin)

superbagpuss · 02/09/2013 18:54

I eat some fish but say I'm veggie as it really is easier for people to understand

however meals in a veggie section should be completely veggie or vegan friendly

OldBeanbagz · 02/09/2013 19:00

I was once served with tuna & prawns when i ordered a vagatarian salad in Scotland Shock

It's shocking how bad veggies are treated sometimes. Even my own mother tries feeding my veggie DD chicken every time we go for a visit.

hugoagogo · 02/09/2013 19:55

There is so much confusion out there, which is why I think it is so important to correct stuff like this.

To be fair though, some of those recipes that come up when you do a search are meat or fish recipes in which vegetarian substitutions have been suggested, which is fine I think.

OP posts:
hugoagogo · 02/09/2013 19:56

Snurk at vagatarian Grin

OP posts:
Ponders · 02/09/2013 20:07

well, I agree it is nice to suggest alternatives, hugo Smile

but they could be posted again with the vege substitutes in the vege category instead, couldn't they?

(NB I have no axe to grind, am not vege or pesce or vegan Grin)

hugoagogo · 02/09/2013 20:24

That would be ideal yes; but when people are submitting recipes themselves I imagine that might complicate things a bit too much.

I really wouldn't to put people off posting their recipes. There are some really good ones on there. Grin

OP posts:
Ponders · 02/09/2013 20:40

maybe MN Techs could add a flag when the vege alternative is clicked?

"Are you sure this is vege???"

Wink
