OP flag on Active Conversations

TidyDancer's thread got me thinking that it would be really great if on the Active Conversations view I could get a notification if it's the OP updating as opposed to just a thread participant.

Could be a colour change or a star/flag/counter. Nothing too overbearing! As an opt in, naturally, like highlighting the OP in flat view is currently.

Anyway, just dropping this idea here as I would really appreciate the feature.

I would like the option to skip to op posts somehow. A bit like bookmarking? Often I come to a thread that is well established and would like a quick way to catch up!

Yeah, me too - now I just spacebar down the page quickly until I get to the dark grey posts but it would be great to skip directly there. Great idea.

Ah, I am on my phone so getting a seriously muscled thumb from scrolling I like your idea too but wonder if it could be applied to "threads I am watching/on" if hq can't make it work on active?

Oh would also be useful on that view! I instinctively limit my update requests as I am always getting in trouble with my own Back End for killing their caching, but that's also a brill idea.

CoTananat, if you're using the desktop version of MN, you can see the name of the person who's updated the thread.

And, on both the desktop and mobile version of MN, you can see who's been updating a thread you're on by looking at Threads I'm On.

Search for the OPs name? Can be done on Desktop and Mobile sites.

Hi Helen, the problem with the current system is two fold 1 you can only see last x number of posts so if you don't check back regularly you will miss the op and be none the wiser and 2 you need to remember the ops name - for every thread! My phone just can't manage that much database activity whilst also refreshing and holding down a full time job

See, your problem, belated, is the full time job.

I think it is part of an mn ploy to keep us plugged in 24/7 it's working

Not sure if this helps, but I Customized my threads to show;

• Messages per page = Unlimited (so I only have to load the page once)
• Highlight OP posts in Forest Green (easier to find when scrolling)
• Highlight my posts in Dark Lavender (I can start from where I stopped)
