Hello. We've recently become aware <nods at rather long [[http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/site_stuff/1764891-Login-screen-now-defaults-to-keep-me-logged-in recent Site Stuff thread]]) that quite a few of you do your Mumsnetting on a computer/device you share with other people in your household. And we're guessing most of you lot would rather keep those other folk in your household (lovely as they undoubtedly are) out of your Mumsnet account. Cos it's yours and yours alone, and all. So, at the risk of sounding a little patronising/headmistressy, we thought it might be a good idea run through some simple precautions you should be taking to protect your Mumsnet identity and stop others having access to your account details. * First off, please be aware that now, when you log in, our system will automatically keep you logged in unless you tell it otherwise. So, if you want to keep your account away from prying eyes, you need to *untick* the "Keep me logged in" checkbox when you log in. Once you've done this the first time, the checkbox will then remain unticked every time you visit the log in page - unless you tick the box again. * Once you've finished MNing (or if you need to leave your computer to pop to the loo/deal with children/answer the door etc), close your browser window. This ensures you are logged out (if you've unticked the checkbox) ? and means nobody using the computer after you will have access to your account. * It's also worth knowing that, in the next couple of days, we'll be streamlining the process of managing MyMumsnet. The most noticeable change will be that you will no longer be asked to log into MyMumsnet every time you go there. In fact, once these changes are in place, you will only be asked for your password in two places: when you want to log in and when you want to change your password. These changes will make MyMumsnet much easier/simpler to use and we don't think they'll make your account details any less secure, as long as you're taking the steps you we're advising you to take anyway to keep access to your account away from those who share your computer. We'll let you now when these changes are released. In the meantime, do please feel free to post up any Qs here.
