PM namechange problem

I've just had a PM from someone clicking a post I wrote as ParsingFancy - and the PM arrived in my inbox addressed to one of my namechanges-for-sensitive-stuff.

Even when I was logged in as PF, my reply to the PM still had it coming from the namechange.

Don't know if just me, but fix when have time, please? (The problem, not my individual PM, I mean.)

Not hq I know, but I thought PMs would arrive regardless of which name you used, based on the account iyswim.
So you have 'MainName1' and 'NameChange99' on the same account. So a pm sent to either will arrive in your inbox (one inbox covering all name changes within the account) but your reply will always show as coming from whichever name the other person PM'd.

Not sure I've been entirely coherent there...

Yes yes, McBalls, there was a cunning change recently so that replies to PMs always came from the name that had been PMed. Which was brilliant.

It's the incoming name on the PM that's the problem here (and is then duplicated on the reply).

It should match the name the PMer saw when they clicked "Message poster". But it doesn't.

Oh cripes.

Yep, I had a recent exchange where different messages are from different ncs (hers, not mine).

The same thing happened to me. I received 2 messages this month - one using my current name and one using an old name change.
