Can't log in as my usual nickname

I namechanged to add a comment to the commute thread and wanted to revert to my current username only to find out it's currently in use. Does this mean that someone else happens to have chosen the same nickname at a time I wasn't using it? I would have thought once someone has chosen a name it can't be used again in its exact form others we could all masquerade as someone else.

Or does this mean mumsnet thinks I'm still logged in (as my usual nickname) because I did tick the keep me logged in button when I first came on before quickly changing to above nickname.

I would have thought I should be able to select any of my past usernames at any time- or is this just a glitch in the system?

This seems to be a glitch. You need to report your own message to MNHQ and they will get Tech to look at it.

There was a post in the last week or so by BellaVita about the very same thing, which interested me as I was also having the same problem.

Whatever Tech did to help BellaVita somehow worked for me as well, even though I hadn't reported it.

Sorry you're having trouble - have you been able to change back yet?

As you say, nobody can use other people's nicknames in any circumstances, so it won't be that.

If you're still having difficulty, can you let us know what device and OS you're using, and which site version you're on (mobile, normal website version etc)?

No it still says my normal username is already in use.

I'm just using a household PC and accessing the normal website version. Not sure what OS stands for.
