Hello
We've been pointed to this new OFSTED consultation process, which proposes changes to the Early Years Inspections framework.
One such change is to replace "satisfactory" rating with the term "requires improvement", to incentivise pre-schools to keep up with standards already expected of schools and colleges. With these "requiring improvement" nurseries and pre-schools, OFSTED is also proposing to increase the frequency of inspections, and even imposing a maximum 4 years to get to "good". Failing this, OFSTED proposes they be judged "inadequate" and - if repeatedly judged so - steps be taken to cancel the setting's registration.
What do you think of these proposals? Would you be more confident in the inspections process if OFSTED made these changes to nursery and pre-schools? If not, what other considerations would influence your choice of and confidence in a nursery/pre-school?
You can get involved and respond to the consultation here, or find further information on the OFSTED website. Feel free, as ever, to post your thoughts below!
Thanks
