Increased Display of Active Conversations

Azure · 26/01/2004 15:47

Just a thought - can the number of threads listed on the Active Conversations screen be increased from 25? The activity on Mumsnet is so great, particularly at certain times of days, that threads quickly drop off the bottom. Likewise the Last Day option shows too much info, and appears to be in Topic order.

I think listing more Active Conversations would be great, especially when combined with 'last day' taking a while to scroll through and getting distracted by things I wasn't necessarily looking for.

If you look at the address bar and instead of 25 at the end of the address you put in 50, you well get, well the last 50. Doesn't seem to work for more than that though.

Beccarollover · 26/01/2004 15:54

Not sure there is an official way to do it but when you click on active conversations if you look in the address bar you will see as string of code with the last part of it reading ..."=25" change that number to number of your choice and that is how many threads you will get back!!

Might be an idea for Mumsnet to introduce new button though as this is a cumbersome way of doing it.

Does that make sense?

emmatmg · 26/01/2004 15:55

if you hi-light to address bar on your screen you can change the number 25 to 50...or 60 or whatever I suppose.
That'sow I do it, I'm sure someone will explain it better than me though.

Hello,
Yes, you can change it the 25 to 50 (or any number under 51), but any number over 50 it will just show 50. We could maybe allow up to 100 or something..... hmm.

Carla · 27/01/2004 09:16

Apologies for being completely dim, but where is the address bar?

Azure · 27/01/2004 09:27

I never knew you could change the display - I've just successfully changed it to 50. Many thanks! Carla, the address bar is where you type in the www internet address.

OP posts:
Carla · 27/01/2004 09:32

But if I type 50 there, I just get an MSN search for '50'.

pie · 27/01/2004 09:34

Carla it should say:

www.mumsnet.com/SearchTalk?lastn=25

You replace 25 with 50 so it says:

www.mumsnet.com/SearchTalk?lastn=50

and hit go/enter

zebra · 27/01/2004 09:35

But 50 is the max you can do. I would increase it from 50, even.
Yes, I AM A JUNKIE!!!!!

nutcracker · 27/01/2004 10:04

God i did it. Well done to me (well i'm crap with computers)

Carla · 27/01/2004 10:07

Thanks Pie!

Carla · 27/01/2004 10:08

But when I subsequently clicked on Active Conversations, it went back to 25

pie · 27/01/2004 10:08

the 50 address should be in your address bar now if you click on the drop down menu

bundle · 27/01/2004 10:10

I've done it too, now feel like computer-genius
