What is this obsession with focusing on the negative posts and wilfully disregarding of the far higher proportion of posters challenging what they feel is unacceptable comments?
Why shouldn't MN allow someone to start a thread saying they're pleased MT is dead when the main consensus on the thread is that the OP's view is vile and wrong?
MN is about debate, it's a place where people can express their opinions and if other people feel their opinion is vile and wrong then they will make that known. Surely it's better to have those debates out there so that all sides of the argument are aired and discussed, rather than a censored discussion where only one side is heard?
MNHQ are deleting any comments that they feel are beyond the pale, according to their talk guidelines, it's not as if every single post is being allowed to stand.
I know my opinions of all sorts of different issues have changed as a result of threads I've read on MN and that has to be good too, that posters may be being educated as a result of a thread?
As for the swearing, we're all adults here. Some people like it, some people don't. The whole point of MN that makes it different to other parenting forums is that is is largely unmoderated and swearing is allowed. We're not censored in any way and for me, that is why I post here and nowhere else.
