Deletions

I had my first deletion today - do I not get notified my MNHQ with the reasons why?

I have looked at the Talk Guidelines, and would just like to know why it was deleted. I suspect it is because I copied and pasted a post someone had written on one thread into another (because IMO it was very relevant).

Is this a deletable offence? I couldn't see that stated in the guidelines. I don't mind, I don't agree with the deletion, but I would like to know if that is the reason.

You don't always get an email when a post is deleted. Some of us would have flooded in boxes...

But, to guess, yes, it's because you copy and pasted across. Bad form, really, although maybe not an actual rule.

Hi AnneEyhtMeyer. No, we're afraid we don't notify folks with the reasons for a deleted post (we don't have the resources for that).

But we'd be more than happy to look at your deleted post and then explain to you the reasons for its deletion - if you'd like to mail us at contactus at mumsnet.com

In answer to your question here, no, copying and pasting a post that someone had written on one thread into another is not an automatically deletable offence in itself - although it's not generally seen - by most folk - as a very friendly thing to do.

Thanks, Helen, I will.

I wouldn't normally do it, but sadly the poster was being very unfriendly to others and so I just wanted to show she didn't actually practice what she preached!
