IIRC, this was removed deliberately as it was the most accidentally used emoticon and kept cropping up in inappropriate places.

I cannot for the life of me remember the exact details but it was a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng time ago. I remember it being changed.

I can't remember the exact reasons, and nothing I can think of makes any real sense TBH, but it was definitely a deliberate move.

I can't work out why ;) is more often accidentally typed than any other of the punctuation combos.
