Oi, MNHQ! Tip of the Day isn't working and I actually have a tip!

Just tried to get to 'send us your tip' from the homepage and it isn't loading. It's an actual helpful piece of advice, as well (not something I have all the time, tbh).

Pregnant and travelling by public transport? As you get on, drop your scarf on the lap of a passenger who has their head buried in a book. When you say 'sorry' they will look up, spot the baby on board badge/bump and give you their seat. Even if they are too rubbish, it's more likely someone else will realise you need to sit down and offer you their seat.

(This happened to me the other day - I was the person with a seat and my head buried in my kindle. I did wonder whether said p/g woman had worked this out as a technique rather than actually dropping her scarf accidentally - if so, well done her.)

Thanks for the heads up guys, we'll get on it

Ruprekt · 16/03/2013 11:11

SmileSmileSmile Brilliant tip!

Thought you were preggers for a moment there Edam!

edam · 16/03/2013 11:17

Grin at Ruprekt. No, I was the unknowingly selfish moo who didn't notice the p/g woman. But at least I did give up my seat once she'd used the scarf trick.

Thanks KateS, I feel like a small child eager to be Best Brownie but I was just so impressed by the way she handled it.

Erm, what happened to simply asking.for the seat?

Easier said than done?

I am a keen Brown Owl wanting to hear your tips! It should be fixed now so go go go go!

All of you actually, share your wisdom and you could be tip of the day!

RubberBullets · 17/03/2013 09:00

Where do you submit tips?

RowanMumsnet · 17/03/2013 09:28

@RubberBullets

Where do you submit tips?

Here - fire away!

edam · 17/03/2013 09:37

I see I still didn't make tip of the day, though. :-(

edam · 17/03/2013 09:38

And now I notice you've changed how you do smilies - you used to be able to do :-( as well as Sad. Good grief. I remember when it were all fields round here and MN worked and gave you options.

Thanks for the link Rowan.

Edam, you can still do the :( it doesn't have a nose in it. It's been that way the whole time I've been on MN

EduCated · 18/03/2013 13:40

I once got Tip of the Day

Are you an actual Brown Owl?

KateSMumsnet · 18/03/2013 15:53

edam keep your eyes peeled....

edam · 18/03/2013 19:51

Oh bum, so I was being grumpy without cause? Oops! I plead tiredness... that study today showing that people who have disturbed sleep perform worse at work the next day than people who are properly ill and stuff is soooo true.

Tip of the day: make sure your techie stuff is working so people can submit tips. Grin

Btw, I second whomovedmychocolate's current tip on Alice bands. Not that I had any at the time, but keeping hair out of your eyes is handy when b/f.

Um, tips is being weird - sorry edam. yours was meant to be appearing.

KateSMumsnet · 19/03/2013 16:25

Look at the homepage edam

I should probably stop doing the owl thing now.
