I cant go back to my original Nickname

I changed my name as I wanted to ask a question, but needed to put in some details I dont want associated with my normal nickname and now I can't change it back to what it was. I just keep getting the "that nickname has already been taken" line. Yes by me. I even copied and pasted it, but it still didn't work.

I thought we could use our old Nicknames? Is this not the case anymore?

Yes please. Thank you I only have two other names on there, one Ive never used (or maybe once, but I didn't like it)
