1000 posts limit on a thread - any reason why?

Hello to those in charge

Is there a technical reason for capping threads at 1000 posts?

Just seems a shame when a discussion is still ongoing and people may still want to add.

Thinking of the Asda thread as an example.

And also makes it difficult later on when searching the archive to keep linked threads together.

Threads of 1000 posts can take ages to load (and even more so for those on smartphones)
We are always happy to add posts to a thread that have exceeded their limit to link it to a part 2 etc though - just report the thread and let us know.
