Double clicking a poster's name...

confuddledDOTcom · 30/10/2012 02:36

When you double click on a poster's name (if they haven't got a profile) to highlight it, it highlights the word "poster" on the other end of the bar too - so copy and paste gives you "poster confuddledDOTcom". It's a bit irritating when you're replying on a long thread and have to keep deleting it every time you copy someone's name. I was just wondering if there's a space missing or something that's causing it? It's nothing major just a mild irritation so if it's something a pain to sort don't worry I can keep deleting.

It's not happening for me.
I've just got confuddledDOTcom
I'm on a PC, using Firefox, if that makes any difference.

JenFrankenstein · 30/10/2012 09:09

It works fine for me too. Using Firefox on Linux

BartletForTeamGB · 30/10/2012 09:13

poster confuddledDOTcom

Using Chrome and that's what is happening for me too.

Wallace · 30/10/2012 09:19

poster confuddledDOTcom

Chrome here too

CaptainNancy · 30/10/2012 09:26

Does this. To me in safari too.

HelenMumsnet · 30/10/2012 12:33

Ooh, that's interesting.

So, you folks who are getting this on Chrome and Safari: you're on a computer, not a phone, right? And you're using the desktop version of the site?

NotQuintAtAllOhNo · 30/10/2012 12:35

Is that why you chose that username?

BartletForTeamGB · 30/10/2012 13:24

Helen - yes, on a Mac, using the desktop version.

confuddledDOTcom · 30/10/2012 14:44

I'm using Chrome on a PC. I just tried it on IE and it didn't happen.

Wallace · 30/10/2012 15:01

Yes PC desktop version

DameMarghoulFountain · 30/10/2012 15:03

yup, i'm on chrome and just tried this

maybe linked to the other problem too then?

confuddledDOTcom · 30/10/2012 15:40

What other problem, poster DameMarghoulFountain?

OP posts:
confuddledDOTcom · 30/10/2012 15:41

Sorry Blush

some of us are finding it's taking ages to change page

it's on average about a minute per click for me

confuddledDOTcom · 30/10/2012 19:35

I find it can be slow to change when I hit post but not noticed it elsewhere.

MapofTassie · 30/10/2012 21:20

Same here. MacBook and Safari.

McPhee · 30/10/2012 21:22

Well I never even knew you could do that Blush

BigBroomstickBIWI · 30/10/2012 21:24

Happens for me as well. Google Chrome, laptop

NetworkGuy · 31/10/2012 16:21

No, not an idiot, McPhee.

To highlight something I wish to copy I always hold the mouse button down while moving across the text. That still works if someone's NN is a link to their profile, you just have to be a teeny bit more careful (!)

FWIW, double clicking here, on Chrome on an iMac, also highlights the word 'poster' but I only did it as an experiment anyway.

coppertop · 31/10/2012 16:30

I've never noticed before but have just tried it out and I get the word "poster" added on too.

I'm on a PC and use Chrome.

hellhasnofurylikeahungrywoman · 31/10/2012 16:34

On a PC, using Chrome and it does it for me too (although I never knew you could do that either).

confuddledDOTcom · 31/10/2012 20:24

I don't usually use a mouse because I'm on a laptop and my youngest likes to "help" if there's a mouse about. I tend to save it for when I'm able to play games.
