I could really do with some where to post about 19 plus transition (sn)
is there any chance of this ever happening?

So sorry, threeorangesocksmorganisagirl. It's on the list of Things To Do but the list is screamworthily long.

Will see if I can nudge it up towards the top. But we're afraid you'll have to bear with us a bit longer on this one...

threeorangesocksmorganisagirl · 27/09/2012 08:21

it has been months though.
I have seen so many new topics yet this one just has happened

Hi mnhq is there not a way hq could at least put a sticky up temporarily Ito show up under each SN section until arrangements for a proper section be made?

Stickys are arranged for live chats etc so wondered if a temp measure is at least a start so these parents of older children have a temp base now?

Peachy · 27/09/2012 14:25

Yes, especially as many other older poster's kids are ageing- after all the child that was a toddler when I signed up for MN turns into a teen in a few weeks, won't be long before we need transition into adulthood advice!

threeorangesocksmorganisagirl · 27/09/2012 15:52

have to say I don't post in the childrens sn topic so a sticky is no use to me.

Realise that and we are sorry.

The reason is that we wanted to do all the proposed changes to SN topics at once. And a couple of the changes are quite complicated, tech-wise.

But I will see if we can maybe do in two-stages, and fast-track your request, threeorangesocksmorganisagirl.

amillionyears · 27/09/2012 21:00

If you are so behind techwise,me thinks you need to employ another techie.
On the plus side,MN does not seem to crash so often.

threeorangesocksmorganisagirl · 27/09/2012 21:35

can't you just link a new sn transition (16 plus ) topic to the teens one(the nt one not sn)

OP posts:
dottyspotty2 · 28/09/2012 16:07

Something is needed for parents/carers of young adults childrens section is not really that useful when dealing with issues that crop up as they get older. Would be much nicer to be able to post in a section where other posters understand your situation better.

threeorangesocksmorganisagirl · 28/09/2012 22:19

tbh I am bored with waiting for this.
if anyone is interested in a FB group please pm me and we can get one going

OP posts:
Thecarrotcake · 28/09/2012 22:29

very much needed.. our dc's are growing up fast

threeorangesocksmorganisagirl · 28/09/2012 23:23

sadly it doesn't seem an priority, it is a shame as every one on the sn children's topic will get here one day

OP posts:
HelenMumsnet · 29/09/2012 09:23

We're sorry you think that, threeorangesocksmorganisagirl.

Especially as it's not true.

It's just a complex Tech fix. And Tech can't do everything at once - although he does try, bless him.

Mumsnet's 'back end' is custom-built, unlike many other discussion boards, and has its own special idiosyncracies. Even one slight change can cause glitches through the entire site - you only have to look at the other threads in Site Stuff about PMs suddenly going funny to see that.

As a result, what may seem to be a simple change/fix is rarely so, and can require days of work.

The SN topics changes have now been moved up the to-do list, as we promised we might be able to do.

We hope you can bear with us.

amillionyears · 29/09/2012 09:31

Are you saying you only have 1 tech man at MNHQ?

HelenMumsnet · 29/09/2012 10:55

@amillionyears

Are you saying you only have 1 tech man at MNHQ?

No, we have more than one Tech - and some of them are women Smile.

But, actually, this fix requires the specific abilities and knowledge of one particular Tech.

threesocksmorgan · 30/09/2012 00:28

I do hope it happens soon, imo 19 plus for a sn teen is the hardest thing a parent ever goes through and I have been through all the other stages.
it is a time you need support and hopefully success stories. I would love to be able to access MN through this time.
seems so unlikely though

threesocksmorgan · 30/09/2012 12:14

I am going to keep bumping this.
I doubt if any other "group" would have to wait this long

amillionyears · 30/09/2012 12:26

I am feeling for you threesocks.
It sounds like MN isnt very well built, technically wise.

I'm trying to think if there is a temporary way round this.
Perhaps MN can offer you some suggestions?

threesocksmorgan · 30/09/2012 15:09

there is a fix, a fb group

coff33pot · 30/09/2012 17:46

I saw a post yesterday in the SN children's section about a lad who has just had his 16th and the parent has concerns now for the future. I can help her but it would be good to have this section for help and support :)

devientenigma · 30/09/2012 23:43

can I just add, the OP is desperate to chat to others who are going through and have been through her transitional phase she has now. This phase can not wait till something is done technically. She is going through it now not when some support topic can be sorted. The thing with most SN is it can't wait, it's here and now. I suggest you get the FB group up and running and advertise it on SN here, then when here is up and running advertise it on FB.
