What's the ParentPort section for?

It says in the little blurb thing that it's to discuss TV advertising, but there seem to be loads of posts there on a range of topics (nothing to do with TV) from new posters, who then never venture out into the rest of the boards. Confused Is it linked from somewhere else or something? What's it for?

Yep - Bertie is right. Posters using this ParentPort folder are not really understanding the vastness of MN and how there is a suitable place for everything :)

I thought it was some sort of regulatory body to keep an eye on badness on EvilSquares?

Strange how random newbie threads eend up in there.

Hi Bertie,

Yes you are right as the header says:

This discussion topic is in partnership with ParentPort, a website run by the UK's media regulators. They set and enforce standards across the media to protect children from inappropriate material. If you've seen or heard something you felt was unsuitable for children ? maybe a programme on TV or online, a film, an advert, a video game or something in a magazine ? feel free to start a thread here to discuss it with other parents, and you can also make a complaint to the regulators via ParentPort.

I am not sure if it is externally linked to but i will try and find out.

Thanks for spotting, we will look at better ways for directing folks who land in ParentPort.

Oooh off topic I know but I went and had a look because I'd never heard of it, and there was a thread there that explained how to hide all the porn channels on my Freeview thingy. Didn't know this was possible and am very pleased to have done it (I did technical things!) so thanks Bertie!

I think it's because it looks like it's the first forum to post in, if that makes sense. It's the first forum under being a parent, so looks like it's the place to post. Just needs moving t'is all

Ooh good point EduStudent, I hadn't noticed that.
