Links no longer open in a new window and can't click 'back' button to return to MN?

Just that really.

It is very annoying - have you changed something technical on the site - or has my PC just decided to start behaving oddly?

Is there a way to set a preference for links always to open in a new window by default?

I am using Safari v 6.0 on a Mac if that helps.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, can you tell us a bit more? Are the links just not working or does the page freeze? What browser are you using?

WAD · 28/07/2012 18:21

I am using Safari as above (v 6.0).

No, the links are working, and the page doesn't freeze.

A link will take me to the linked page - but the new (link) page opens in the same window, (rather than in a new window, with MN 'behind') as it used to. This would not matter so much - but it also does not let me click the 'back' button to return to MN. The 'back' button is greyed out, as if I never was on a previous page.

So everytime I look at a link, it's as if MN has closed down and I have to re-type the MN address in the address bar.

Maybe it is just a weird Mac setting.

Sounds like it is opening a new window, if there's no back button. And it sounds like your computer to me, not a MN issue.

[not a tech for MN emoticon]

Hmmm.

There is no 'old' window though, just one window open with the new linked page and no back button.

It sounds like it's opening a new window and closing the old one at the same time.

Have you tried on any other browser? You can download chrome or firefox for free.
