This is a bit annoying (cars)

MN

I clicked on the Parking topic in discussions of the day over there ====>>

It's VERY annoying that it takes me out of Talk altogether and into the Cars 'sub-site' without bloody well telling me that.

Then there's no way to get back to Chat or whatnot as the Discussions of the Day over there suddenly all become all about Cars and not the actual Discussions of the Day I was originally looking and clicking in.

OK yes, Cars bit mildly interesting, but I do not want to be taken there against my will. No matter how much money you are getting from Which Car.

This is the first time I have felt mad enough to actually complain about MN.

Fecked off of sitting room.

OP posts:

yes earlier i clicked on a thread in active convos but it had actually been posted in the cars site and then it took me ages to get back here

v. annoying

I agree with the OP. I've just posted on that thread and wondered where the hell I'd ended up.

Very annoying. I shan't be clicking on any other car related topics.

OliviaLMumsnet · 23/07/2012 23:42

Hmm
Can you not just change gear (!) and click on your browser's back button?!

K999 · 23/07/2012 23:46

Yes, the back button tis an amazing invention...a bit like reverse?

Or just click on active convo's

I suppose so. I clicked on the 'Home' button, then wondered what was going on. I have since noticed the red button for going back to the main Mumsnet site, or like you say, using the browser back button.

Just a tad annoying.

EveryPicture · 23/07/2012 23:52

Blue button, not red.

Jeez. Time for bed.

ThreadWatcher · 23/07/2012 23:52

I think its weird.

There is no active convo button to click once you have arrived in the zombie land of 'cars'

ThreadWatcher · 23/07/2012 23:54

Even if you click on a 'cars' discussion direct from active convos you get taken out of Mumsnet in to Cars land.

Tis very odd. I not like.

TheEternalOptimist · 24/07/2012 00:11

Could you make the Cars section open in a new tab?

Or just put a big arrow on it showing where the back button is on a browser.

thisisyesterday · 24/07/2012 13:56

back button is fine, but if you've browsed a few pages then it's irritating to say the least to have to sit there hitting back over and over.

and you can't click on active convos from there can you? i looked for it but couldn't see it?

thisisyesterday · 24/07/2012 13:57

sorry, just saw that someone has already confirmed there is no active convos button

i don't like that you can click on it from active convos, but you can't click again to get back there.

Actually, there is an Active Convos button, folks. If you look at the bottom of the Discussions of the Day box, you'll find (blue) link to the Topics list, Active convos and Search.

thisisyesterday · 24/07/2012 18:14

ahh ok, thanks Helen :)

NaturalNatures · 24/07/2012 19:40

I can confirm that, I've tried it and was slightly confussed as I thought it was car active convo's but came back to mn active convo's.

I am slightly dissapointed in the lack of car porn and have had to bleach my eyes from all the black/grey/white cars and bmw/audi's

Where are the lambourghinis, murcielagos(sp?) and volkswagons?? huh, huh??

And there were no F1 cars in sports cars realises I've gone past hysterical, t'was all the fault of them black cars nice Jaguars though Grin

Confused if I want to take a butcher's at some else, I always right-click on the link and open in new. Then the old thing is still there.
