Hi Mumsnet Towers,
I wondered if you think it would be a good idea to set out the changes to welfare reform in an article for Mumsnet. This will affect a lot of mumsnetters and i think some straight forward information would be useful to access somewhere, with some advice telephone numbers

Thanks for the suggestion. It's a good one. We'll def have a think about what we can do.

If you do this, can I ask that the language be as unloaded and practical as possible? And state where things are actual changes rather than just new spin on old practices?

Eg a govt press release might say:
"We think it's appalling that the valuable knowledge and skills of older people are so undervalued and want to give them the opportunity to continue to live active lives for as long as possible, so we're removing compulsory retirement at 60"

Whereas MN should say something like (theoretical eg):
Compulsory retirement age for women is being changed from 60 to 102.
Women will have the right to retire and receive a full state pension at any age from 67 to 102 should they wish to.
Women will not receive any state pension under the age of 67. This is a change from the current minimum pension age of 60.

NB I think it's really important to mark stuff as changes, because
a) that will be important to enable people to understand how their own situation will change, and
b) a lot of govt PR I've seen misleads heavily and pretends existing stuff is somehow new, while pretending new stuff isn't actually a change for anyone.
