I have a mini-rant to myself every week when the "Mumsnet Swears By" email arrives, because almost without fail at least one of the quotes on at least one of the products is from someone who has clearly never actually set eyes on the product in real life.

That is not a "Mumsnet Swears By" testimonial. That's a "Mumsnet is Faintly Intrigued By" testimonial.

And yes, in theory I could unsubscribe instead of ranting. But I've tried clicking on the "Unsubscribe" link and it doesn't do anything. So it'll have to be ranting for the moment.

I'm afraid I always delete it without reading on the grounds that I don't understand the complex sartorial and moisturisation contents anyway.

But your point is well made.

I never look at it either, but think it really means "here are some products some people have either expressed an interest in, or own", rather than "swears by"
