You know the Venture Photography competition?

You do know there's threads about their selling tactics on here, right? They won't sell unless both parents go to the viewings, their products are really expensive and they will spend ages trying to get people to blow their budget.

Are you sure about this MNHQ?

YY venture are v hard sell

LadySybildeChocolate · 11/07/2012 18:11

I wanted a photograph of ds and I together. I was very clear when I said this. 95% of the pictures they were trying to sell me were of just ds. Yes, they were lovely, but they were not what I wanted and I didn't appreciate the sales woman trying to make me feel bad about not buying more then I'd asked for.

Years ago we blew our budget with a huge Venture picture. It faintly embarrasses me every time I look at it. Would not be able to afford it now and feel cross with myself [and DH] for spending ludicrous amount of money on it.

Not that great- just big....

SardineQueen · 11/07/2012 20:16

I "won" a "free" photo shoot with venture recently.
On further questioning it turned out that nothing would end up being free at all.
Not the first time I've come across them.
they really are hard sell (not to single them out though there are plenty out there who use this tactic)

I think that 'style' - over exposed fun faces on white is really dated.

I have some of a similar style and like Sunflowers, I'm not that keen on them now.

Nothing smutty or remotely exciting.

Sadly, just boring spam.

LadySybildeChocolate · 17/07/2012 12:18

Spam and eggs or spam and chips? {sorry, we like Monty Python}

Completely agree lady! Venture are vultures that pray on parents emotions and when you say you can't afford it they try and push their credit deals on you.

My cousins spent 1700 in there on THREE photos! That they now won't display because its only them 2 and their son and they've now had another. It's madness.

AVOID!

HelenMumsnet · 17/07/2012 17:30

Hello. And yes, to answer the OP, we did know there was some, ahem, 'disquiet' among MNers about Venture.

This comp was one we promoted on Facebook for a very short time - no money involved. And tbh we probably wouldn't have promoted it, were it not for a bit of a cock-up miscommunication ishoo here at MNHQ.

But point def taken, folks. Thanks for raising.

LadySybildeChocolate · 17/07/2012 18:29

Not a problem. Smile
