They posted threads under one name but answered others under in another. So effectively having 2 active usernames?

Not answering their own threads or talk about yourself in 3rd person and never having the two different names on the same thread?

OP posts:

Babylon Go into MyMumsnet ^^up there and then into registration. That is where you can nc.

Hassled · 04/07/2012 22:00

I think lots of us namechange for things which might out you or are generally sensitive - nothing wrong with that. But yes, me posting as X to say "I agree with Hassled" would be pretty iffy.

PigletJohn · 04/07/2012 22:02

I agree with Getorf and think I am fantastic

oops

GetOrfMoiiLand · 04/07/2012 22:07

Babylon1 · 04/07/2012 22:08

Thanks elephants! Guess I can't do it from iPhone then?

ElephantsCanRemember · 04/07/2012 22:11

No idea Babylon My mobile still has an aerial that you have to pull out and is the size of a brick.

ceeveebee · 04/07/2012 22:41

I think you would need to click 'show desktop site' first then you can go to 'my mumsnet' etc

Pinot · 05/07/2012 09:12

Yes that's fine. Also mebbe keep your names secret, just to yourselves so they don't get passed around like toffee. I suspect you'll draw fire anyway so you may as well give it a bash, eh?

I'll report your OP to get HQ to have a look and answer you definitively :)

ohchristFENTON · 05/07/2012 10:15

My opinion is that it's fine to keep them separate but I'm not sure if MNHQ view it that way.

I'm trying to remember the circumstances when I had two NNs going, and MNHQ asked me to pick one to stick to as they don't really allow members to have two accounts running at the same time.

If I remember it was a time of certain unrest (much like at the moment) and I was sulking about something - being deleted unfairly (IMO) and accused of being 'robust' in my posting style (as if Shock ) . So I went on strike under my usual name and posted under a new one. (not that anyone cared Grin )

MNHQ were very nice about it all and it got cleared up but said they would prefer if I would post under one name and stick to it. So I did and I've stuck with it ever since.

TBH I don't know why you would want to have interchangeable NNs unless you were wanting to post about something sensitive to get support but without being 'outed' or as many people do, periodically change so as not to be ultimately recognised in RL - which is also understandable. I have namechanged over the years but never made a secret of it, - but to have two names running surely is just a trip-up waiting to happen. Smile

@EndangeredOtter

Yes elephants

So start threads as x name but reply to threads as y name but never replying to my own thread with a different name.

What I'm asking is if this is sp or not?

We offer the NC facility so that folks can NC and post about bumsex sensitive ishoos without others 'knowing' them.

We aren't really keen on it being a consistent thing really - more of a once in a while thing.

We most certainly wouldn't look too kindly on the two persona's being very different eg: RebeccaMumsnet is a SAHM with 3 DC's who is married to an astronaut and lives in a wooden hut on a beach in the Hebrides.

BeckyMumsnet is a single working mum of 1 who loves to watch Strictly and has a dog and six chickens and lives in Edinburgh.

hth

Pinot · 05/07/2012 12:15

I love Strictly. More than is appropriate really. Seen it being filmed twice
